Eagles slap Vick with franchise tag

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially slapped the franchise tag on veteran quarterback Michael Vick.
 
The news comes as little surprise since the Eagles had made it clear they were not willing to risk Vick becoming a free agent.
 
After how well he played and with the number of teams in need of a quarterback, Vick would have been a hot commodity.
 
With the franchise tag in place, the Eagles have bought themselves more time to reach a long-term deal with Vick.
 
The big decision is whether or not to keep backup Kevin Kolb as an insurance policy in case Vick gets hurt.
