Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that quarterback Donovan McNabb will return next season.
McNabb is going into the final year of his contract, and the team has a logjam at the quarterback position.
Kevin Kolb is considered the quarterback of the future while Michael Vick has shown glimpses of brilliance in his limited time under center.
McNabb has been widely criticized in Philadelphia over the years, and the team’s first round playoff exit won’t help matters.
He is going to be another year older and costs a lot of money, so a trade is not out of the question.

The Philadelphia Eagles proved three times isn’t always a charm in a 34-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
If it hadn’t been for a long touchdown pass from Michael Vick to Jeremy Maclin, it would have been really ugly.
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who did a lot of trash talking during the week, found the end zone late but was a non-factor.
Philadelphia yet again struggled to run the ball and protect the quarterback, and their defense had no answer for Tony Romo and Co.
The Eagles are going to have to make some offseason changes to become a more complete football team if they want to be a true Super Bowl contender.

The Philadelphia Eagles will head to Dallas to take on the rival Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs.
The two teams met in Week 17 in a game that determined the NFC East champion and who would get homefield advantage in the first round.
Dallas more than stepped up to the challenge, shutting out the Eagles to pick up their second win over Philly this year.
Third time can be a charm, but the Eagles are going to have to find some way to contain the Dallas pass rush.
It would also help if Philadelphia could get some type of running game going to take pressure off of quarterback Donovan McNabb. Cowboys 27, Eagles 20

The Philadelphia Eagles saw their NFC East title hopes go up in smoke in a 24-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Philadelphia never seemed to have a problem putting points on the scoreboard this year until Sunday.
The offense became one dimensional because the Eagles could not get anything going in the running game.
The Eagles defense wasn’t much better. They gave the offense a chance, but did allow more than 300 passing yards to quarterback Tony Romo.
It’s not a good way for the Eagles to end the regular season and certainly doesn’t give them momentum entering the playoffs.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jamaal Jackson will miss the rest of the season after tearing a knee ligament Sunday in the team’s home win over the Denver Broncos.
Jackson is just the latest Eagles offensive lineman to suffer an injury this season. The team has been shifting lineman all over the place to try and cover for injuries.
It was Jackson’s 71st consecutive start, as he was the most stable part of the offensive line. Head coach Andy Reid said that Jackson is a good football player and will be greatly missed.
Right guard Nick Cole moved over to center, but did have some bad exchanges with quarterback Donovan McNabb. That’s something the team hopes they can get ironed out over the next week.
It is a fairly serious knee injury, so it is questionable whether Jackson will be 100 percent healthy in time for the start of next season.

The Philadelphia Eagles ran out to a 17-point lead only to have to hold on for a 30-27 win over the Denver Broncos.
Philadelphia’s explosive offense really got rolling fast, but it seemed like the team prematurely thought the game was over.
Denver rallied back furiously to tie the game at 27, forcing the Eagles to mount a late, game-winning drive.
It was a solid effort from quarterback Donovan McNabb, who finished with 322 yards and three touchdowns.
Sunday marked the return of safety Brian Dawkins to Philadelphia, and the fans gave him a rousing ovation during introductions.
