The Philadelphia Eagles are excited to announce that running back Brian Westbrook will make his return to the field Sunday and play against the Denver Broncos.
Westbrook has missed nearly two months this year because of post-concussion symptoms. He has missed the past six games because of the last concussion he suffered.
Doctors have cleared Westbrook to play, and they said the running back has passed all the necessary tests and seems ready to go. Head coach Andy Reid said he has done well in practice.
The Eagles are likely to ease Westbrook back into game action and continue to let rookie running back LeSean McCoy and fullback Leonard Weaver carry the load.
Still, the return of the versatile Westbrook is a huge boost for the Eagles. If they can slowly get him into game shape by playoff time, they will have another dangerous weapon on the field.

The Philadelphia Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 27-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
It was a big day for wide receiver Desean Jackson, who finished with 140 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Donovan McNabb got over the 300-yard passing mark, but had just the lone touchdown pass to Jackson. McNabb also ran for a touchdown, but he did throw two interceptions.
The win allowed the Eagles to maintain their one game lead in the NFC East over the Dallas Cowboys.
With just two games to play and the Week 17 matchup against Dallas looming, it looks like the Eagles are in good shape.

The Philadelphia Eagles will once again be without running back Brian Westbrook as he continues to recover from post-concussion syndrome.
The star running back has missed the last four games and six of the last seven contests because of concussions. He is still hopeful he can return sometime this season.
The team will also be without rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who has become one of quarterback Donovan McNabb’s favorite targets for deep balls down the field.
Reggie Brown will get the start replacing Maclin, and has made some big plays in his limited action this year. Veteran wide receiver Kevin Curtis could see his first significant action of the season, coming onto the field for three wide receiver sets.
Rookie running back LeSean McCoy will continue to play in Westbrook’s absence, and fullback Leonard Weaver and quarterback Michael Vick will continue to get the ball in short yardage situations.

The Philadelphia Eagles have given head coach Andy Reid a three-year contract extension to reward him for his job with the organization.
Reid has led the Eagles to several NFC championship games and one Super Bowl during his time with the team. During his tenure, the Eagles have one of the best winning percentages in the NFL.
The hefty head coach has taken a lot of heat in the City of Brotherly Love, where many are quick to criticize his clock management and inability to win the big game.
Some of it is fair criticism, but he continues to get the job down in the won-loss column. A lot of his players also back the coach and appreciate his player-friendly style.
Few can argue with his results on the field, and one of his best coaching jobs may be this season, as he has had to work in Michael Vick and a number of rookies while dealing with the loss of running back Brian Westbrook.
